There is no way to win this game. There is no behavior that will satisfy them.

You are either failing to live within your means, i.e., swearing off all frivolities like some sort of financial anchorite, or you are ruining the economy by not buying things.
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Unironically they should buy up the domains for about 60 defunct local newspapers in swing states. Hire two reporters to write almost exclusively about highschool sports and new restaurants opening with every 10th article about how the local GOP is screwing over people.

Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume?
Premodern Gender Historian: Almost all surviving sources about that period are from elite men. I certainly was doing work then but it was not considered important or relevant by the chroniclers or may have been in perishable foods or textiles.
Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume.

Classicist: why yes, that was the age of gold, when folks free from care lived out their lives in gentle leisure. The earth too was free from harm, not touched by a rake nor wounded by any plows, but gave everything of her own accord.

So he’s literally saying, in so many words, that he is “entitled” to deny habeas corpus to anyone he wants to deport. That he’s entitled to deport people summarily.

Goddamnit we fought a revolution over this.

Yeah. The administration’s position here, in almost so many words, is that the First Amendment doesn’t apply to noncitizens. (Which it absolutely does, to be clear.)

I mean it's good to focus on 'And this guy was here legally and not ever a gang member AND they're Venezuelan'

but NO ONE should've been sent there

Precisely this. Congress could, if enough members chose, stop this madness right now with veto-proof majorities in both chambers, by retracting all delegation of tariff-imposing authority and restoring tariffs to what they were on January 19. All it would take is initiative and spine.
Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.
