“Every human being has a sacred right to pastoral care, especially on Christmas,” said Felician Sr. Jeremy Midura, member of the coalition's Women Religious Council. “We followed every required protocol ... But in the face of silence, we are making this request public … We deserve an answer."
“The coalition's leaders noted in their release that pastoral access to the Broadview facility was allowed in previous years. They also pointed to federal detention standards that explicitly guarantee detainees the right to religious practice and access to chaplaincy services.”
“Catholic religious and others last week made a public appeal amid the cold outside a federal office building in Chicago: They wanted permission to bring Communion and pastoral care to immigration detainees on Christmas.” www.ncronline.org/news/catholi...

It is interesting that nativist racism and ardent xenophobia don’t scan, to certain people, as bigotry
the most notable thing JD Vance has done in the last five years is tell vicious racist lies about immigrants. If you think he hasn't taken a side on bigotry, you are an idiot. He's for it. He's very strongly for it.

This means the VA won't cover abortions EVEN in the case of rape, incest, or serious threat to the health of the patient.

The DOJ memo was authored by Josh Craddock, one of the chief legal advocates for fetal personhood, i.e. imposing a nationwide abortion ban through the courts.
🚨🚨 SCOOP @ms.now : The Department of Veteran Affairs has quietly implemented its abortion ban following a DOJ memo issued last week.

This will affect 9 million veterans and their dependents, and has been a long time coming: It was outlined in Project 2025.

98-99% of abuses ICE/DHS agents and contractors commit against detained migrants will go unnoticed—and unaccountable—unless there's infrastructure in destination countries to hear victims' testimonies after deportation. Here, @palabrasdeabajo.bsky.social shows the power of this essential monitoring.
Francisco Gaspar Cristóbal Andrés was the first immigrant to die at the Trump's Camp East Montana.

His wife, Lucía Pedro Juan, was held in the same facility. She detailed abuses and hunger. She said her husband was not ill when he was detained in September. Now she is in Guatemala.

My exclusive:
Exclusive: She survived ICE custody; her husband died during detention
Guatemalan widow shared a hug, a tickle and these words with her husband: "Cheer up." It was the last time she saw him alive while they were in ICE custody.
