I suspect there's a lot to be learned from the decline of the British Empire here. As time went on, colonialism became less and less profitable. Private companies would extract all the wealth by pillaging resources, leaving the British government to foot the bill for occupation & administration.

Finally saw Sinners today. Best movie I've seen in a *long* time. Absolutely fantastic. S-tier movie, hands down.

What worries me with ice is that the public has no way of knowing if they are really ice. They have unmarked vehicles, wear masks, show no warrants or legal paperwork, no identification, and appear very unprofessional and violent. Anyone could be impersonating ice to terrorize our communities.

True on paper, but per the Constitution, they "can't" do a lot of the things they *have* done. So this reads as another, "Stop overreacting!" Like we've been hearing for 10+ years.

I used to call lottery tickets my $2 antidepressant. They didn't work all that great for making me less depressed, but they guaranteed I wouldn't kill myself for about a week, because I could just imagine my dead body being found with a winning ticket, and that'd be on loop in hell for me.

If you get on a jury, nobody in the court will remind you of that power. OUR power.
Jury trials were the last line of defense against tyranny for this very purpose.
You can effectively nullify an unjust law/prosecution by acquittal.
