This is where I always ask: Tell me about one example of a government service being privatized, and offering the same or better service for less cost. Just one example.
Response: <crickets>

Most Oxbridge colleges have a Master and a Vice-Master, but Girton College, as the first in the UK to allow women to take degree courses, is unique among all Oxbridge colleges in having a Mistress.
Girton's Mistress, Dr. Elisabeth Kendall, and beside her is Girton's Vice-Mistress, Dr. James Wade.

Suzanne - we had to fill up in Western Head last year. I'm wondering what percent of Nova Scotia homes use wells? I'm thinking it must be high?

In Nova Scotia global warming has led to a months-long drought, which means residential wells have been running dry.
Water delivery companies are run ragged, and some are outfitting trucks for the winter, in case there isn't enough rain to soak the ground.

Can I ask one simple (?) question? Assuming most teenagers don't carry some kind of ID, how on earth do you actually verify the age of Some Guy visiting your web site?

“London hits 'historic' clean air milestone 184 years early…a 'truly remarkable turnaround for the city's air quality.”

Quite a leadership achievement for @london.gov.uk’s government! While nations talk, (some) cities act. And get results.

I support free speech, but I also think Bluesky should ban anyone that says eating the lower half of a mermaid is not cannibalism

I don’t care if genetically it’s fish flesh not human, in my book it still counts as cannibalism and I expect this platform to uphold that fact

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

I've lived in France, and now Cambridge. When I walk the streets in Vancouver all I can think is, "Dear god, this is horrible!"

One thing people who have never lived abroad can't know (& I say this without judgment) is how exhausting it is to be in an environment where literally everything around you is unknown, alien, unfamiliar. "Like you are 5 yrs old & learning how to do life again". Exactly that.

How about we design and test stuff so that it DOESN'T catch fire?

Maybe that's something governments could do?

ps - what time of day do fire departments charge THEIR gear?

May I say that as an Englishman of a certain age I am averagely prudish, I can't help the way I was raised, but I do know art from pornography and I do not think art should be turned into pornography by being hidden by a moderator that thinks everyone is in need of protection from it.
