Take a look at what and who this system rewards, and you’ll see a good chunk of the truth about it.

If we want to stop Elon Musk from destroying our entire society we have to make sure there is never another billionaire. They can't just be taxed out of existence, we tried that in the 60's and 70's and once they retook political power they dismantled everything

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Human rights should be universal, even for people you can't stand. Sorry, but this is kind of basic human and political decency.

I think an unhealthy number of people still see the fascism and the dying empire of it all as a meme in some way, rather than as our immediate reality with extremely high stakes. Like even when they don't really intend to.

I am tired of people saying and believing this. Our lives are not a game of chess and these leaders aren’t making brilliant political maneuvers. Please stop the delusions. It’s embarrassing.
You realize this is a game of chess right?

I think sarcasm around Elon’s Nazism should stop now. Jokes about the autism bullshit, any sort of validation of his sidestepping of the question, all of it should be replaced by a very cold, sober, direct confrontation with the richest man on Earth and advisor to the president being a Nazi.

Mutual aid is not just a disaster response, it’s a way of caring for one another, building stronger communities, and preparing for whatever life may throw at us next. It’s a labor of love—and a way of life.

I put together a reading list (and words of advice) for LitHub: lithub.com/we-only-have...
We Only Have Ourselves: The How-Tos and DOs and DON’Ts of Mutual Aid
For all of humanity’s many, many flaws, one of our most redeeming characteristics as a species is an almost-universal desire to connect with one another. When terrible things happen and communities…

We will not go numb under the barrage of Trump attacks. He wants us scrambling, confused, distracted. Instead we can and will laser focus on collective liberation, on what it takes to get from here to there, on the cultures and institutions we need to create to build a world where everyone is free.

The Trump admin has cancelled the panels that approve NIH grants, & is also banning scientists from communicating with the public, attending conferences, and hiring.

NIH is the largest funder of biomedical research in the world. This will severely halt the development of many lifesaving treatments.

as a person who spent a large chunk of my life working in democratic politics, a big part of the problem is that the only way to advance your career is to never question anything.

the only people who get ahead are people who love the status quo and live by it. at every level, kiss asses.
At this point I think the Democrats have a masochism/humiliation kink going on. So much bad political strategy! All the time! About matters small and great! They keep thinking if they play by the rules they will persevere whilst Republicans dgaf about rules and do what they want.

shut up mark, as if censorship isn't the first sign of losing democracy. americans haven't had a democracy in years
I wish Americans cared as much about the loss of democracy as the loss of TikTok.

these types of political cartoons are not only stupid but also so disconnected from reality. tiktok, aside from being an entertainment app, is quite literally the only form of community most americans have, and the one place they can get information in real time that is not drenched in propaganda
