Cholera is a treatable disease. Most victims die rapidly of dehydration / electrolyte imbalance. Even just oral rehydration works. The bug itself is mostly self-limiting.

By now my house is usually decorated for Christmas and I enjoy doing it. This year I can’t muster it. I just don’t feel like it matches reality. Today was nonstop jaw-dropping bad news. Except it’s also not surprising somehow. Which is why it feels so hopeless, I guess. Some things are too far gone.
