How common is it to make a six-membered ring with all different elements?
chemicalscience.rsc.org
Our #ChemSciPicks this week is from Max Holthausen, Terrance Hadlington et al., who look at the path to an open-shell metallo-germylene and consider whether this proceeds via direct ligation, or reduction and metathesis.

Any professors from graduate programs in sciences want to be a part of a Zoom session for University of Richmond undergraduate students interested in applying? I'd love to add a few more to my roster especially in the chemical or biochemical sciences. It would be next Tuesday at noon Eastern.

There's a small thread on my timeline about calculators (I don't want to rope the folks on that thread into this) and I think it illustrates something about LLMs quite clearly. (1/n)

Organometallics people: does anyone have a good, quantitative, apples to apples reference for a late metal hydride vs alkyl BDE reference? I know Marks has one for early metals but it’s been hard for me to find one for late metals.

Departing from my recent lockout commentary, here's a chemistry question about gloveboxes. I read somewhere that if acetonitrile gets into the purifier (which it should not given proper usage), it can generate hydrogen cyanide during the regeneration. Any truth to that?
