Wildly different things, tasks, techniques, subspecialties being lumped into "AI" and then being conflated with each other, doesn't help. Different types of models vs the techniques to train them vs the tasks they are supposed to accomplish, all under "AI".

epic will pay for every game that gets claimed this way so yes, you are still giving money to rowling (and by extension an international campaign against trans people) by claiming this

there are other, better franchises - let this one go

The case for degrees that teach us how to think

No no no begs every archivist. You are never going to be able to find anything. Please don’t start using emojis in file names. Who asked for this? What fresh hell is next?

“Sorry, professor. My notes for the assigned reading are very scattered. Halfway through, I realized the author’s points aligned with the themes in the novel I’m writing and I got distracted comparing/contrasting my own work…”

We’re coming up on one year since my co-author and I started seriously writing our novel series. Out of curiosity, I tallied up the word counts of all the drafts/files we’ve made in that time.

635,256 words. Roughly 2118 pages. In one year.

You are not somehow on the wrong side or not doing enough by not being able to go to protests and rallies.

I saw someone say this after the last #NoKings events but I cannot find the original video so I’m going to reiterate for those who might want to go but for one reason or another cannot

This works well till the vacant space next to your favorite place to sit turns into a Spirit Halloween and now it’s too noisy.
I enjoy using my local mall as a “third place” to do my writing. There’s ample seating throughout and I can walk in air conditioning anytime I get writer’s block.

Plus the people playing Pokemon Go are fantastic company. 😂

Does the general population still understand character based emoticons/emoji? Like, do people understand XD as 😆 or do I look insane to my friends and coworkers?

Work laptop has always been on the “small” side as far as RAM. That’s fine; usually I’m doing only “lightweight” tasks.

I swear in past few months the same apps have started using up considerably more memory, causing significant lag, and it’s beginning to grate how little can cause it.

New level of pronoun ambiguity hell: writing a scene where a nonbinary (they/them) character is talking to two others who use he/him pronouns…

This scene is ridiculous.
