I usually hate picking up a book only to find out it's part of a series*, but Scalzi's The Last Colony hasn't required any previous knowledge so far. He's very good at casually sprinkling the text with--

Mielestäni on erikoista, miten ihmiset tuntuvat rinnastavan liittoon kuulumisen johonkin öö suoratoistopalveluun, että rahalle on saatava vastinetta jotenkin ehkä kouriintuntuvasti ja viihdyttävästi, kun tosiasiassa liittoon kuuluminen vertautuu enemmän esim. vakuutuksiin tai veroihin.
Huvittavaa on myös kuulla, miten juuri tämä nuoriso-osasto usein valittaa, että EIHÄN SILLÄ SAA MITÄÄN KUN KUULUU LIITTOON. Niin no, en tiiä. Ite tykkään mm. ihmisoikeuksista ja siitä, että joku hoitaa nämä sopimukset.
