I don't think it's necessary, or fruitful, to attribute it all to kiwi farms. Doing so elides the problem. It's not one site or one group, it's a systemic incentive that makes this behavior desirable, automatic, expected.

So yeah, my major Christmas surprise this year was being terminated without cause. But it's an at-will regime so there's not much I could do except be polite.

And now my entire byline for every story (and the bylines for a couple of other stories I had a hand in editing).... are just gone.

told him he had to fire me, that their offer of fully remote work (which I had been doing for 6 months without issue) was against standing policy) and they terminated me before I could even finish entering my information in the payroll portal that same day.

I believed him... but, now? I don't.

I was *supposed* to stay on until June 2026. They renewed my offer of employment early December. Then I get an email from the Associate Director (who now has my articles bylined to him) saying he doesn't have the power to authorize that, followed by another email saying the parent org's HR...

If you're a creative, twitter is already useless because it suppresses outbound links; if you're a VISUAL artist, twitter has a built-in feature that lets anyone edit your work however they want with an AI. What's even keeping anyone there.
