Retired vet, has chaired several charities since, mostly supporting refugees and asylum seekers. IPF patient, which is a bit of a bugger. Trying to play the cello and play string quartets.
Makes sense!
If we are really worried about the pressure put on the NHS by flu then shouldn’t we have offered the flu vaccine to more people for free?
Super flu' wave hits hospitals in England with no peak yet
Numbers in hospital rise by more than 50% in a week as NHS faces 'worst-case scenario'.

Spot on.
You can’t tell if someone is disabled just by looking at them.

There’s no such thing as the “genuinely disabled”.

You are not entitled to a person’s entire medical history just so you can decide whether to believe them or not.

People are not faking disability, most are trying to fake being well.

Hey Labour

Remember the majority of voters who believe in treating people decently and not stealing from those who've endured months and years of hardship fleeing war and persecution to seek a place of safety?

We're still over here 👋

Analysis of Mahmood's trailed announcements can come on Monday. For now, just feel the need to say that the elements made public are morally degenerate, vindictive, and indefensible. They will achieve nothing other than cruelty and the further legitimation of fascism in the UK.

I hate this policy so much. It's simply morally wrong.

I wrote this a few months ago about how emotional it was seeing a refugee I once hosted get his citizenship and, finally, be safe and welcomed.

One ironic thing here is that I know of several cases where asylum seekers were punished for volunteering because that was too close to "work" and the Home Office wasn't having it.

These cuts to welfare due to Austerity 2.0 wouldn't even be on the table if we hadn't left the EU and the Single Market. The Brexit madness is costing us lost revenue, lost taxes, lost funding, lost investment, and so much more!

Remembering Joseph Haydn, who died on 31 May 1809. Since October I’ve been thrilled to start almost every day with a Haydn work. First it was the Symphonies, now we are on the Quartets. It’s been a life-enhancing process.

Can our press now stop quoting the Israeli Govt’s line as anything but naked lies and propaganda?

Genocidal maniacs like Netanyahu can’t commit war crimes without help.

They’ve been sold arms, by allies like Britain (yes, including Labour) to kill and torture civilians for 19 months.

The horrifying inaction of those who know better, as the bodies piled up, is indefensible and contemptible.

This won't have much impact on net migration, but will hinder integration, promote "churn", and increase hardship.

Mean-spirited, unnecessary, and unpopular.

After weeks of media attacks on #NetZero, we learn in one day that 1000 new jobs will be created at a second giga-factory in Sunderland, that plans for 4.7GW of offshore wind have been advanced by the Crown Estate, & Ed Miliband approves a 400MW solar farm.

Result? Zero column inches.

Seems to apply in the UK, too
I've said this a million times, but I'll say it again: it is truly striking how many Democratic politicians, pundits, and commentators have internalized the idea that the right shapes public opinion and it is the job of the left to respond to it.

Labour losing Runcorn was avoidable and as much a result of our party’s failures as Reform’s rise.

Now, we need to learn the right lessons, not double down on the same mistakes.

Cutting disability benefits and scrapping the Winter Fuel Allowance made voters abandon us. [1/3]

Hear, hear!
There is a really key point in this interview with Zoe where she's asked why more cruelty won't stop immigration. Her answer is absolutely accurate:

"Why because in these circumstances migration is life" (not doing so being death).

Cruelty is no deterant. It's just cruelty.
Mainstream radio presenters like Vanessa Feltz are perfectly happy to contribute, in their own small way, to the rise of the extreme far right.

Her interview with me on LBC just now was chock full of lies. Calls herself a journalist.
Really I wonder how they sleep at night.
