I keep using the term "non compos mentis" to describe Trump because that's how he's acting. It's beyond his longstanding history of total ignorance, habitual lying, and constant exaggeration. He's genuinely disconnected from reality and often incapable of expressing coherent thoughts.
I have been haunted by this statement all day www.kgw.com/article/news...

Troops to Portland? Illegal and absurd. But the absurdity is the point. Trump policy is to ignore real threats to US security coming from abroad and use the armed forces to pursue imaginary threats from within, thereby creating an atmosphere suitable for personal rule. (1/2)

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.

that fox news host still has his job.

With both news reporting and now late night comics, there's a *lot* of incredible talent out of work right now and a *huge* audience that would gladly pay for both.

If @mcuban.bsky.social or some other benevolent billionaire is looking for an opportunity to make an impact, this is it.
There’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people to build on the rubble of what’s being destroyed before our eyes. Private corporations bending over to forcefeed everyone government-approved speech is evil and amoral, but more than anything this creates boring, inauthentic, unwatchable shit.

Good reminder that public/private censorship of mass media was common in the 20th century. The Hays Code, the Comics Code, blacklisting; we have been here before and arguably more oppressive in the past. It took 75 years of 1A jurisprudence to make us all believe It Can’t Happen Here. But it did.

Sinclair is demanding that Kimmel apologize to the family (?) and also "make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA"

Are you fucking kidding me? It's not enough they got him fired, they want him to grovel and send money to these anti-free speech grifters?
#BREAKING: Sinclair says it will air a one-hour tribute to Charlie Kirk on its ABC-affiliated stations in the time slot that is usually occupied for "Jimmy Kimmel Live." The special will air on Friday, per a Sinclair spokesperson.

One day after the Supreme Court lifted the ban on racial profiling, federal agents swarmed a car in Van Nuys.

Four masked agents with guns drawn yanked people out, slammed them to the ground, and pointed a weapon at a pregnant woman.

There is no justification for this. None.

And why does he salute the anthem like a dictator instead of putting his hand over his chest like every other American?
