“Starving children screaming for food as US aid cuts unleash devastation and death across Myanmar”

Never forget or forgive that Trump, Rubio, & Musk *chose* to inflict this monumental level of death and suffering on the poorest & most vulnerable people.
Starving children screaming for food as US aid cuts unleash devastation and death across Myanmar
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has repeatedly said “no one has died" because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program.

A sorry record. This is one reason I don’t care for the Nobel prizes. Three others being:

1) promotes a “great man” view of scientific progress, whereas science is best understood and celebrated as a collective, community activity.

Graph showing the low and declining percentage of physics Nobel prizes awarded to women. 2.18% as of 2025, despite the fact that 15% of physics phds have been awarded to women over the last 50 years.

Mars was the Roman god of war.
That’s why we say ‘martial arts,' ‘martial law,' and 'court martial.'

Marshall was the Roman god of designer fashion at discount prices.
That’s why we have Marshall’s.

*sigh* another year, another Nobel Prize in Physics going to white men.

😔 I'm tired.

Oh look another Hatch Act violation, this time by the USDA 🫠

btw, I love the juxtaposition of "official government website" with "radical left democrat shutdown" I'm sure that won't come back to bite anyone in the behind /s

I think Perseverance may have spotted interstellar comet 3I/Atlas last night from Mars!

After stacking 20 images from Mastcam-Z, I found a faint smudge of light in the constellation Corona Borealis close to the location where the comet was expected. 🔭

image of the night sky showing a starfield with several dark and bright stars that are quite elongated due to the long exposure time. the stars of the constellation corona borealis are annotated in green. a faint smudge, perhaps comet 3I/Atlas is marked with a red circle.

If you're looking for new 3I/ATLAS data from Mars, ESA is the place to look next week:

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

I hosted a podcast using a pseudonym for a couple years to avoid violating the Hatch Act. I got fired anyhow.

One time, I interviewed the Secretary of Agriculture. I worked for about a week to make sure that I didn’t ask a question that would violate the Hatch Act.

Meanwhile, these MFers exist…

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Version of original on left, updated on right:
Thank you for your email. There is a temporary shutdown of the U.S. government due to a lapse in appropriations. I will respond to your message as soon as possible after the temporary shutdown ends. Please visit ED.gov for the latest information on the
Department's operational status.
Thank you. Thank you for contacting me. On September 19, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5371, a clean continuing resolution. Unfortunately, Democrat Senators are blocking passage of H.R. 5371 in the Senate which has led to a lapse in appropriations. Due to the lapse in appropriations I am currently in furlough status. I will respond to emails once government functions resume.

My heart goes out to all the dedicated federal workers across the country who are now caught in a government shutdown that threatens their livelihoods. You deserve more than to be pawns and leverage in an attempt to solidify an authoritarian regime. 💔
