You may have missed this gem yesterday. From which we learn that:

1. Betting shops are really good for the mental health of isolated people.
2. Most drug-takers are not a problem.
3. Kids put tuppence in slot machines in the hope of getting rich.
4. Farage probably has a gambling industry donor.

As the situation in #Gaza & the Middle East escalates further, I continue to press the Govt on these essential questions:

1. When will we impose an arms embargo on Israel?
2. When will ban goods from settlements?
3. When will the UK Govt commit to recognising #Palestinian statehood?

Today I’ve signed the amendment opposing the Universal Credit & Personal Independence Payment Bill.

This Bill will devastate the lives of many disabled people, pushing more into poverty & doing little to help disabled people into work.

It is the wrong choice - morally, politically and economically

W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee:

“Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”

Not just headline writers. Reporter, too, using "pro-vaccine groups" - and she should know better.

What, like, "pro-knowledge groups"
"pro-truth groups"
"pro-history groups"
"pro-reality groups"
[I'd say "pro-life," but the nuts have hijacked that one]

This is shameful. bsky.app/profile/robe...
The New York Times headline writers now call groups like the AMA and the College of Physicians and Surgeons "pro-vaccine groups." They get more preposterous with each passing day.

This is one of the most powerful things you’ll watch online or TV. It puts the Tories, and in particular Kemi Badenoch, to shame.
Not to mention anyone else who has tried to use the horror of the grooming gangs for political point-scoring.

🎺🎸 The UK-EU Summit underscored the huge value of travel & of cultural exchange to touring artists.

It's essential we keep up this momentum to break down the barriers to touring & allow our creatives to thrive.
