Your reminder that credit scores in the US date to 1989. For much of their existence, race and gender were factors.

They were invented bc it had been made illegal to discriminate by race and gender in the US, so financial institutions wanted a facially neutral way to accomplish the same thing.

Tron gives an inaccurate impression of how many guys live in your computer. It makes it seem like thousands of guys are in there. In reality only about 10 guys live in your computer and less than half of them ride motorcycles

Had a dream a while back in which I discovered the existence of the "Grave of the Fireflies/Super Mario World 2-in-1" for the Wii. It basically functioned as a DVD except for a "special features" section that literally only had an SNES emulator playing Mario World. It went for absurd prices on eBay

The cover for a fake Wii game consisting of both the 1988 Studio Ghibli film, Grave of the Fireflies, and Super Mario World; both are represented on the cover, the former by the poster of Seita carrying his sister Setsuko across a field and the latter by the artwork of Mario wearing a cape and riding Yoshi. The cover promises "TWO classics in ONE!".

yeah, bingo. Most people on bluesky just want twitter 2 and probably don't even care about what decentralized means (and what the current drama is even all about). It feels to me like bluesky really just needed more time in the oven and the worst thing to happen to it was twitter dying prematurely

This makes all of the commentary coming from the BlueSky staff about the flexibility of having your own instance so much worse, given that it's a known issue from the team that suspensions are done at the PDS level.
