My wild hot take: based on a true story movies are so popular with Conservative Christian movie studios because they know their audience has so little media literacy and empathy that they are not able to feel any connection to a fictional character or situation.

I've been watching the speech from the end of The Great Dictator a lot again. I do this every time things start to feel a little fascisty. In my opinion It is one of the best movies and if you haven't seen it you should.
