Why a bunch of Senators who are retiring are leading the negotiations is something to really think on
I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.

Oh for the love of

Sharing, since I just googled these so I could leave angry voicemails telling these motherfuckers to hold the line

Schumer's DC office number: 202-224-6542

Gillibrand's DC office number: (202) 224-4451
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

In LA, we have the right to film law enforcement in public spaces, as long as we do not interfere.

Arturo Hermosillo says he was arrested for doing exactly that.

He was in his van when he saw an older woman, a local tamale vendor, lying on the ground during an immigration raid & started recording.

SB 8 is the 6-week ban that Texas implemented 9 months before Roe was overturned. It was unconstitutional when implemented and SCOTUS did nothing about it.

It allows ordinary citizens to sue a person they think has aided or abetted an abortion and if they win, they get a minimum of 10K in damages.
For Black Women in Texas, Juneteenth’s Promise of Freedom Remains Unrealized
State control over reproduction in Texas didn't end with slavery in 1865. Today’s draconian abortion laws and bounty hunts keep Black women in reproductive enslavement.

MY NEW COLUMN:

For centuries, the Texas government has weaponized different laws to control and exploit Black women’s bodies—first through slavery, then through Jim Crow segregation, and now through abortion restrictions that disproportionately harm and control the lives of Black women.

On the heels of a political assassination, a Montana Republican legislator says it's "time to go after the head of the snake."

It's this type of rhetoric that emboldens the worst actors to commit violence. This type of rhetoric is always deplorable, but from a sitting legislator, it's inexcusable.

NYT found the “big beautiful bill” would be the largest transfer from the poor to the rich in a single law since at least 1990.

In fact, it would be the largest transfer *ever.*

Reagan’s low-income cuts were MUCH smaller - and his tax cuts were done separately. And before him, nothing comes close.

14 million people could lose their Medicaid coverage.

22 million people could see their health insurance skyrocket.

And they're doing all of it so they can give millionaires and billionaires and their mega-corporations more tax breaks.

Everyone is seeing this, right?

There is a genocide in Gaza that our government is funding.

The time to speak up was in 2023.

And in 2024.

And now in 2025.

It is not a war. It’s ethnic cleansing and genocide and two administrations have handed Israel’s government everything it wants to carry it out.

This is how for-profit healthcare works:

You pay a private company to help cover your healthcare expenses.

Your doctor has to ask this company before treating you.

The private company then decides if they will cover it. If they say “no,” they make more money.

It’s immoral.

Haven’t seen a single report about this yet linking it to the history of terrorism against reproductive rights clinics or the growing right wing expansion of so-called ‘pro-life’ efforts to limit reproductive choice writ large. I know I am not the only one absolutely begging journos to do context…
