I have the displeasure of watching Peter Thiel's keynote at the 2013 "Effective Altruism (EA) Summit".
Yes. I too didn't understand what Thiel and "altruism" have to do with each other, but it made sense after I knew that EAs are super effective at the opposite.

I have the displeasure of watching Peter Thiel's keynote at the 2013 "Effective Altruism (EA) Summit".
Yes. I too didn't understand what Thiel and "altruism" have to do with each other, but it made sense after I knew that EAs are super effective at the opposite.

I am dying that ~38 minutes in, he uses Andy Meltzoff's newborn facial imitation study to claim we are all naturally memetic, and therefore have no good original ideas.

I've been a Predator fan since I saw the original as a kid, and honestly? Predator: Badlands absolutely ruled.
I never thought I'd like the idea of a Yautja as the protagonist, but it worked for me. This was a really fun time in the theater!
