That's not a "fake debt collecting business," that's a "debt holding business." The difference is negligible but the former implies someone committed fraud. He didn't. His business has the right to hold whatever debts it purchases and may act or not on those debts for whatever reason it chooses.
The actor Michael Sheen used all his money to start a fake debt collecting business, buy 900 people in Wales's debt, and excused it. If Musk bought ALL $194 billion in medical debt in the U.S. and excused it in the same way, he'd still be the world's riches man by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Actor Michael Sheen has bought $1.3 million of his neighbors’ debts and written them off using $129,000 of his own money.

Trump wants to gaslight America into thinking that the economy is doing well. It's not. The cost of living is up, the social safety net is shrinking, and many polls show that the majority of Americans are struggling under this economic system. #Velshi
The poverty line is a lie: how the rising cost of living is leaving many Americans behind
Donald Trump tried to use his address to the nation to gaslight the country into thinking that the economy is doing better than it actually is. Despite what he says, the cost of living is much higher than it used to be and many people in the lower rungs of society are being squeezed out by the one-two punch of rising prices and the shrinking social safety net.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Tyler Robinson will be out of the news by Monday.

Right wing which dominates media and politics and power is already gaslighting their audience and still blaming "the left."

You can't shame shameless people who are committed to an extremist authoritarian project.

I’m begging just one reporter to ask all these Republicans who are “they”? Because if the answer is liberals or college professors or educated people or non-fascists, they’re making this mythical enemy up in their heads.

Politics have no place in Football so it was unacceptable for Colin Kaepernick to peacefully take a knee to protest systemic racism, but the NFL proudly held a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk because we must honor a man who denied systemic racism even exists.

This is America.

Transgender people are owed a retraction and apology from @wsj.com. The lie has already become canon to millions and it seems the least they could do.

I know everyone is consumed with other news, but this is a big fucking deal: The Trump administration says that IUDs and the Pill are actually abortions.

Here's what USAID told the NYT about the $10m in birth control they plan to destroy.

The right's grip on power is tenuous and if you believe—as I do—that in 2024 millions of people voted Trump out of idiocy rather than love of right-wing ideology, then an economic contraction will undermine them in ways they can't wash away no matter how friendly the media environment is for them.
plenty of things going against the right globally: Bolsonaro's conviction in Brazil, the defeat of the right wing in Norway's election, the student strikes and Saba Saba protests in Kenya (brutal as the repression there was), the EU's von der Leyen pursuing sanctions and trade suspension for Israel
