My column giving kudos to the Canadiens and Geoff Molson for righting a wrong with Andrei Markov on his Homecoming Night. But it's still a shame he wasn't able to reach the 1,000-game mark with #Habs after butting heads with former GM Marc Bergevin: montrealgazette.com/sports/hocke...
Cowan: Kudos to Canadiens for righting a wrong with Andrei Markov
It's a shame former GM Marc Bergevin never gave him opportunity to become second defenceman in Habs history to play 1,000 games with team.

A crucial win and the best 5-on-5 game of Demidov’s career. Also, top marks for Nick Bobrov so far as Canadiens head scout.

Two losses. That's the point at which an NHL team must recover to stop the bleeding. Teams with a lot of three-game losing skids often don't make the playoffs.

Demidov the best Habs player. His best 5 on 5 game. A display of what is to come defensively and in puck winning.

It’s not just about electricity on offense and here he begins his journey to another level.

Also, the Wilde Cards is an assessment on how the rebuild is full steam ahead.

Sportsnet chose to not show any of this
A raucous and emotional start to this one as the Montreal Canadiens and their fans honour Andrei Markov.

One of the loudest and longest sustained cheers I’ve heard. Along with some “Ole Ole Ole” chants.

Habs always do these ceremonies so well.

Five years at 30 million. That’s 6 per year for Mike Matheson.

This is a player telling the world with this deal that he wants to win a Stanley Cup in Montreal and he wants to facilitate the GM’s ability to get that done.

This is a remarkable moment for the organization. They lock up their 1D.

I'll never understand Tom Wilson on any version of Team Canada, at any point in his career, at an IIHF tournament. There are so many skilled players who will be left off the roster. It's crazy to think they favour truculence over pure skill like a Celebrini or Bedard.

Another game where these updated game cards absolutely meet the eye test.

The game score on the left column is pretty close to spot on. My eyes may have said Slafkovsky was tops but he’s high and that’s all that matters.
