last night as i was trying to wind down for bed i had a unified theory of what the fuck just happened, and i wrote it down, and filed it under "well, i can't talk about this on main without sounding insane until and unless the perp gets caught and is provably a groyper"

"a trifecta can pass one, maybe two, narrow money bills but can't actually pass normal legislation" is a truly insane system of government, but the one we live in b/c there are not 50 senators who are actually interested in governing because that would mean giving up the immense privilege they enjoy

A big part of this last two weeks has been getting in contact with, verifying, and interviewing/talking to hundreds of government employees across the entire govt. These people talk to us at great personal risk and in crazy circumstances where they are actively being threatened and pressured to quit

It took only ~2.5 hrs for the National Assembly to gather a majority of members (190 of 300) and generate a unanimous vote (190 of 190) to vote down the emergency martial law. The law says the president "shall comply" with parliament's vote, but doesn't specify a time frame.
