The largest wildfire burning in the state of Washington is still alive today thanks to brave federal U.S. Border Patrol and ICE agents who arrested firefighters caught in the act of attempting to kill it.

My name is Captain Dylan Blaha, and this message is for members of the National Guard across the USA.
I've served in the Illinois Army National Guard for over 12 years, including a deployment to Afghanistan and three years on active duty in Europe.
What's going on right now is not normal.

Fellow US residents: beyond what’s in this thread, are you noticing more relationship strain showing up in social situations in this political moment? If so, what kind of behaviors/patterns do you observe in yourself & others?

This is a genuine national emergency.

In the next few months, tens of millions of people are going to be hit with astronomical increases in health care premiums unless there’s a policy intervention.
🚨NEWS: Health insurers are pushing to raise your premium by as much as 66 PERCENT - while reporting over $1 trillion in revenue, $31 billion in net income & doing stock buybacks/dividends.

State regulators will decide whether to approve the increases. www.levernews.com/health-insur...

Another very cool thing this museum did that I haven’t seen before were braille displays with replicas of some of the statuary so that people could touch them. That’s a great idea and more places should do it.

It’s an ableist assumption that screen reader users will reach out and report accessibility issues they find and if you don’t hear from anyone there are no problems with your digital content.

In my years working for an AmeriCorps org, we responded to wildfires, a deadly landslide, a bridge collapse, and tornadoes in Yazoo, MS, Joplin MO, Texas, New Jersey, and more… I met my partner on a disaster response deployment. 😢

This is ridiculous and illegal. AmeriCorps service programs have filled in critical gaps in social services ranging from disaster response to early childhood education. If your life was made better by AmeriCorps, raise your hand. ✋
As of today, nearly all of the #AmeriCorps NCCC members have been returned to their homes of record.

Hundreds of projects cut short and left unfinished. Thousands of pounds of food won't be distributed to those in need. Tens of thousands of acres of land left vulnerable to #forestfires.

Have you looked into what actions are taking place in your neighborhood this week? Have you marked them on a calendar? Any civic meetings coming up? Does a friend or neighbor need help with a crowdfunding campaign? Is there a loved one who could use a kind hello or a check-in of some kind?
