457 UK armed forces personnel died in Afghanistan during the 20-year deployment.
This is a fucking hideous thing to say. Even by his non-existent standards.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

It's that magical time of year when private jets descend on a Swiss mountain village to discuss climate change and poverty! Anyway, here's my annual reminder. I'll stop posting this when they stop avoiding the real issue: their own massive tax avoidance 💰

Had an informative visit to Kilmainham Prison today. All the staff we met were very helpful and Harry who was our Guide delivered the story of the political prisoners with passion, clarity and humour. A worthwhile use of time in Dublin. #kilmainhamGaol #prison #dublin #Ireland

We urge David Lammy to immediately authorise a senior official to meet with the legal representatives of Heba Muraisi & Kamran Ahmed - both on prolonged hunger strike & at extreme risk of death.

Their representatives have repeatedly requested this meeting & it is now critical to prevent a tragedy.

#bbcnews US reporter says we won’t get to the truth about the murder in Minneapolis.
It couldn’t be clearer ffs! What is it with this BBC equivalence! It’s maddening.

A clear picture without the distraction of UK muddled news commentary and what passes for balance these days. Oxford Professor Avi Shlaim, an Arab Jew, lays out the Palestinian story with a clear account of the history behind this ongoing horror. #avishlaim #palestine @irishpages.bsky.social

People are still acting like Russian apologists over the boat incident today...so I think it's important people read the UK Defence Secretary's statement he was able to make this evening in the House of Commons.

Key points:

It was a stateless vessel

If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Today’s column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP.

The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I'm writing about the Palestine Action hunger strikers at the moment, any of whom could die at any moment, and the astonishing media and government silence surrounding them. The Establishment seems to have become even crueller than when Thatcher was PM.

FFS just watched #hignfy still having a go at Labour. The OBR stated on 2nd December before this recording that Rachel Reeves did not mislead anyone, what happened to fact checking? This is not a good look for Hislop, Merton or Fry. Poor.
December 5, 2025 at 10:12 PM
#Googlebox repeating #BBCNews bs about Rachel Reeves and the budget ffs. Not the fact the OBR came out and said the Chancellor did not exaggerate the position. Also where has #uriahheep Mason gone with his apology to Rachel Reeves.

1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Fair play they gave it a full 30 seconds after spending everyday since the Budget giving it top billing claiming to have been misled. Very weak #bbcnews

Surely having Russian supporters in the Reform party would make them more unpopular than this government but not according to Mason, Robbie Gibb’s spokesperson on #BBCNews

Reform spokesperson Mason clearly did not like being corrected by Keir Starmer over ‘nuance'. Laughable that the #BBCNews think Mason is remotely credible.
Such a fragile little ego.

Your updates are very helpful in countering the spurious expectations not required by the Reform party via Mason and the BBC.
So fed up of people being so bloody negative about anything.

Anything the Labour government does has people being negative about it without providing any evidence beyond a 'feeling' or because what past governments might have done, or because the plan doesn't fit completely with their own ideas.
