‘We now get Home Office press releases about immigration nearly every day’

Cf how the HO seems to have completely disengaged with the sector at the same time, per @sonial77.bsky.social’s comment earlier today
We now get Home Office press releases about immigration nearly every day. Interesting to note the language. They obviously want to be seen to be taking action, but “illegal migrants” are not the same as “asylum seekers”

Govt says the cost will be met from existing departmental budgets.

Today's 70% fall in net migration to 205,000 was not one of the six stories in BBC ten o'clock news.

Ta massive assymetry in whether rises in immigration and falls in immigration are considered newsworthy by broadcasters

Down by 140k isn't thought to be.

Up by 140k undoubtedly would be.

70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

I've just updated the available cats page, we have some REALLY special kitties in and some of them have been waiting ages. Their forever home might be on your timeline, please share? 🥰

Loved this series, I learned so much. The thing is that history is full of different stories & each will give different perspectives. David did a brilliant job of highlighting a range of voices & sources throughout.
