If Winston truly believes Chlöe is responsible for his broken window then logically it follows that he must be accepting personal responsibility for every single death threat made to Benjamin Doyle and their whanau.

no-one, certainly no-one in the public sector, could have predicted that the population would continue aging

"The government is spending an extra $1.6 billion on superannuation, because of an ageing population."

This is exactly the sort of thing it is impossible to budget for, poor Nicola. Snakes and snails! #nzpol

Marko Bosnjak (Croatia 2025) on Croatia's decision to participate in #Eurovision 2026.
Marko Bosnjak on Instagram:
"I've seen the announcement that Croatia will participate in Eurovision 2026 and that Dora will go ahead.
Eurovision is more than a contest. It's a stage for unity, creativity, and peace. Allowing a country actively engaged in genocide and violations of international law goes against these core values.
As someone who proudly represented Croatia in 2025, I understand the weight of these issues.
Back then, there were calls for boycott, but contractual agreements prevented contestants from making political statements. Now, I have the freedom to speak up, and I choose to do so with honesty.
I urge HRT and the authorities to reconsider Croatia's participation if Israel competes. Countries like Slovenia, Ireland, the Netherlands, Iceland, and Spain have already pledged not to participate in solidarity.
This isn't about politics, it's about basic human values: peace, justice, and inclusivity.
Eurovision should never normalize oppression.
Croatia, a nation that knows the cost of war, has a chance to stand for what's right. Silence helps no one.
- Marko Bosnjak"

Yes, um, "mysterious". The director of your integrity projects was an early and regular guest to The Platform, which was funded by the owners of a chain of early childhood centres to advance their political agenda.

"Edwards’ completed research was listed as mostly opinion columns" hahaha

Money-trail aside, Bryce just ain't a real academic. He doesn't seem capable of normal qual research, let alone have the methodological chops to deliver a 'Political Integrity Index'. Clearly, he just couldn't do the work.

They didn't just run the story, they made it the lead story on the whole RNZ homepage.

Some editor there thought this bullshit was the single most important thing going on in NZ today...

Was reminded both on TV and earlier by my wife that it was protests outside politician's homes that stopped the Dawn Raids. With our politicians increasingly curating where they are available, I am unsure how I feel about it being a criminal act to protest outside someone's home.

I love the portrait and it was a bargain when compared to what they paid for Mark Blumksy's portrait decades ago.

It’s such a beautiful portrait, and it will be admired for generations in a way a formal posed photograph would not. Looks like an excellent use of money to me.

NZ's special form of exceptionalism is thinking that RW public policies that are proven failures will, somehow, work here.

Now this is going to come as a shock but it seems that the Cones Hotline is a complete waste of time and money.
A graph from Newsroom showing Van Veldens Cones Hotline is a waste of money.

Data shows Wellington City Council's cone report outcomes -
Sites found to be in order 54
Closed with no action 35
Out of scope 22
Contractor advised to move cones 5

This really grinds my gears. For years I've been confused as to why he gets so readily platformed as a serious commentator. Bernard Hickey recently featured him on The Kākā with a link to Edwards article. I've asked for some follow-up on this because this stuff shouldn't be allowed to lie.

Just got sent this from an article by Bryce Edwards. This is completely false, and he never once fact-checked it with me. My campaign was run by me and my small volunteer team. Comments like this reflect a tired mindset that assumes women can’t succeed in politics without a man pulling the strings.

The Anatomy of influence - A Wellington case study
Many of the powerful vested interests behind local politicians are barely acknowledged. For example, how many Wellington voters knew that the current Mayor of Wellington, Tory Whanau, had her successful 2022 campaign essentially run by corporate lobbyist Neale Jones?
Jones co-owns and operates the Capital Government Relations firm with fellow political commentator Ben Thomas. The firm is the epitome of the "revolving door"

to all the Labour mps on here can you tell your leader we need a commitment to reverse the Jobseekers policy that National has just introduced. Thats not giving your policy away that is exercising basic humanity and getting rid of very poorly formulated policy. Just say it. Come on.

As a lifelong Wellingtonian, 1) I think it's entirely appropriate that our first wāhine Māori mayor gets a painted mayoral portrait and 2) $7000 is fuck all for a painting like this. What a bargain.

Last night I saw a FB post from Julie Anne Genter supporting Tory as she finishes up as mayor. The nasty & abusive comments from men towards both women were revolting. It's a mirror into what men really think of women as a whole. They're not afraid of consequences either bc there are largely none.

I would wager that a large proportion of the adults who think this is a good idea have kids who are over 20 and who dislike them intensely. It reeks of paternalistic, condescending, control.

This has been the vicious fucking thing about the "Jobseeker Benefit" ever since Paula Bennett coined it in 2013

In addition to keeping people in poverty it's been a term of propaganda forcing us all to accept the frame of welfare as economic obligation instead of social support
