Democrats being surprised by this just shows they never have interacted with the police doing their “job” before. I’ve had a handful and one I could describe as positive and others weren’t just bad, they were miserable and one being downright harassment.

Democrats are just so slow on the uptake…

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

Also, the way to not "die on that hill" is to be united. These folks who want to jettison trans folks, immigrants, Black folks, etc. are so short sighted they think it'd be a victory to die a couple steps later, when choosing solidarity is actually choosing to not die at all

The traditional path to American Whiteness is throwing Black people under the bus. It worked for the Irish, it worked for southern Europeans (Italians, Greek, etc), and it gained Asian Americans “model minority” status.

It is generally normal for the house member in a specific district to endorse the mayoral nominee from their party, yes

It is also generally normal for a sitting Senator to endorse their party’s nominee for mayor of the largest city in their state

Well, MOST cities have regularized their mayoral elections so that they happen in even years alongside presidential and congressional elections; the only other major city with a mayoral election in 2025 is Seattle, which has an open top-two primary system with two Dems on the November ticket
