Even more nonsense today with the stupid hiring hypothetical and the health minister‘s comments.

Getting especially annoying because her fans can brush off the legitimate criticisms among all these stupid gotchas.

As a Connolly disliker I kinda agree tbh. This legal career history and hiring an ex-con stuff is weak sauce imo and arguably even distracts from her substantive weakness of embarrassing foreign affairs hot takes.

Genuinely feel the attacks on substance early in the campaign, even if some of them were misleading, were much more relevant. The current character attacks feel somewhere between desperate and embarrassing for those making them

Given the problem is prevalent across all of society, through all age groups, I think it would make more sense to target how social media actually works for everyone - namely algorithmic feeds and who controls them - rather than targeted user bans like this

It’s not a plus but if I actually liked her foreign policy takes I don’t think it would be enough for me to drop support over HH

The reporting on silly blunders by other candidates is hilarious and proves they are unfit for office but the reporting on silly blunders by *my* candidate is mean spirited and proves media bias.
bheanilla.bsky.social
Might be more helpful if this was reported as some bullshit right leaning parties want to do rather than “the EU”

He’d be more than capable of handling questions and doing a campaign, but I wouldn’t vote for him regardless!

Half the FG TDs I hear doing the media circuit making the case for Heather make it much better than she does! Why didn’t they just go with one of them!

Every time I hear her on the radio or TV she sounds like she’s trying to stay composed at work after receiving some really bad news.

As a centre-left voter uncomfortable about Catherine Connolly’s views on Russia & Syria, a decent centre/centre-right presidential candidate had a higher chance than usual of getting my begrudging vote if they came across sensible, charming, not bigoted etc

But FF & FG only managed to produce… this

Right, in Ireland even I’m old enough to remember the casual anti-Polish sentiment here in the 2000s. Very common xenophobic attitudes toward Eastern Euros.

And as someone whose maternal family is Ukrainian, though positive it is still a bit jarring to see Ukrainians portrayed now as a European heroic warrior people if you think back to how many of the same pundits and political figures portrayed East Europeans as criminal "others" before 2016

Quite a history of heroic solidarity for people who suffered so much.

The now deleted video from Heather Humphreys’ team including an image of the Reichstag building in Berlin.

Video focused on how Heather knows the border and the North - and was posted days after she said she doesn’t just go on “day trips”.

"From our point of view, the only people who should be ashamed and should remain silent on the issue of Nord Stream 2 are those who decided to build it," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.

"The extra funding will cover the purchase of big-ticket items, such as sonar and radar systems, as well as a new uniform for the Defence Forces.

Other projects include replenishing depleted ammunition stocks and acquiring new body armour through a joint purchase with other EU countries."

Honestly I find the idea of going to the Gulf states on holiday so instinctively repulsive that I forget how many people do. There are so much nicer and cheaper and less morally appalling places in the world!

Unless you move in those circles, or study the tourist patterns, it's quite surprising how many people go there for holidays - and how much the demographics match some particular slices of the Thatcher coalition.

It's disgraceful that this government is spending millions on disability services when children are homeless.

Charlie does dip into more serious stuff like (I Think About It All The Time) that can be super cheesy too tbf, but even there there’s an earnestness to it that’s kind of endearing / relatable IMO.
bheanilla.bsky.social
The thing is I think Charlie XCX and Sabrina Carpenter have lyrics that are just as silly (”my honey bee, come get this pollen“) but the songs are fun/upbeat and they don’t sing it like it’s deep!

I cannot believe these lyrics from the new Taylor Swift album are real
Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes"

"You made a deal with this devil, turns out my dick's bigger"

"Everybody's so punk on the internet"

"So we all dressed up as wolves and we looked fire"

"Got me drеaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop - Boss up, settle down, got a wish list"

"Please, God, bring me a best friend who I think is hot"

"He dick-matized me and opened my еyes - Redwood tree, it ain't hard to see - His love was thе key that opened my thighs"

"Good thing I like my friends cancelled - I like 'em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal"

"Did you girl-boss too close to the sun?"

"Who's the baddest in the land? What's the plan? - You could be my forever night stand"

"They ripped me off like false lashes - And then threw me away"

"Her name was Kitty - Made her money being pretty and witty - They gave her the keys to this city - Then they said she didn't do it legitly"

Personally I don't eat veggie burgers or veggie steaks but still find this ridiculous. Nobody confuses them and it's 100% about livestock farmers worrying about any competition.
