The writing is on the wall. The time for ending ICE is now. The time for cowering and crowing about the rhetoric is over. Politicians must get on board or get the fuck out of the way.
Wow — New YouGov / Economist poll:

46% support abolishing ICE
43% oppose abolishing ICE

This is the first time that abolishing ICE has received net positive support

It is time
This poll shows that 74% of Democrats support abolishing ICE, with 53% *strongly* supporting getting rid of the agency.

Any elected Democrat who wants ICE to exist is outside the mainstream of their party and the people they purport to represent.
YouGov poll - In the future, would you support or oppose...

Eliminating ICE as a federal agency?
Support 42%
Oppose 45%

Reducing ICE’s size and funding
Support 48%
Oppose 37%

An all too familiar scene: tossing some more gas canisters at residents as they flee.

There is no reforming the gestapo. There is no reforming the slave catchers.

People that are talking about ICE’s “training” or that they need more should not be listened to. This is what policing is. More training = more money to do exactly what they’re doing now but more “efficiently.”

I do not think you're correct in your evaluation and defense of a system that I view as failed. I don't think we have anything else to say to each other on the matter.

I disagree but thanks for the clarification

Not pandering to spoiler centrist types with a history of ratfucking is what you're saying is dangerously wrong, am I reading that right?

I view Joe Manchin as one of the more perniciously spoiler politicians and would argue that pandering to people like him, while effective rarely, slides us backwards more than it gets us ahead. I think people are right to feel that a system geared towards eeking concession from him has failed.
