#Montreal was rated #1 bicycle city in North America this year.

But the party that won the municipal election campaigned on auditing and removing bike lanes.

They’ve already started in my borough, #Outremont.

So we made our own bike lane this morning. We need to keep our kids active—and safe.

Even in the bike utopias driving is still a perfectly acceptable social norm. 60% of households and over 80% of families with kids in Denmark have a car. The Netherlands has 513 cars per thousand people; Canada has 677. The threat to drivers, such as it is, is mostly imagined.

Tech did not peak in the 90s.

Tech has not peaked yet.

We still haven't even figured out how to not destroy the environment, or fund Black women.

In the '90s, just like the 2020s, we trust alt-right libertarians to control how tech is funded, and then we act confused by the inevitable results?🤷🏿‍♂️

While US venture capitalists were buying monkey jpegs, and DOGE coins, and figuring out how to get Black women fired, and tweeting about white birthrates, and trying to mandate which bathroom trans kids should use, China was making progress on climate change and taking the lead in a real industry.
China has made cheap, clean energy available in huge quantities. The world should take the win econ.st/4oqFszB

Every government subsidizes something. The only difference is what the governments choose to subsidize.

In the US, we've chosen to subsidize the creation of trillionaires, through massive tax breaks. Not what I would choose, but hey. 🤷🏿‍♂️

We got an Elon. They got solar cells, batteries, and EVs.

Meanwhile in Canada, half of the country lives in provinces ruled by people who think solar is Evil and Unmanly, and the federal government is run by a man lacking both imagination and conviction when it comes to energy and climate policy.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Not sure about everyone else, but I’m encouraged today (elated?) that we learned last night that we can beat candidates/parties of bullshit, AI slop, corruption, and authoritarianism without emulating them and without tacking towards a false center between us and them.
