I’ve never done this before. Will regret too many responses. Will regret embarrassed silence.

Delivery!!! Michael Lark from Batman: Nine Lives. A brilliant Elseworlds. And look at this page. This was a guy who didn’t like his own inks so got Sean Phillips on some comics then ultimately Stephen Gaudiano.
This is peak Lark for me. Big Toth Hot Wheels undertones. Just love it

ComicBuzz has previews of the 35th Anniversary issue of the JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE (out this month), feat. 'Letter From America' by me, Colin MacNeil, @dylanteague.bsky.social & Annie Parkhouse.

Colin drew the classic 'America' in the first issue of the Megazine so this is great-looking symmetry.

My son received a stereoscopic microscope for his 8th. This is a 2mm long rock spider and a green fly. It’s an amazing bit of kit.

This was a great listen. Some real process wisdom, and some great anecdotes. I’ve heard a lot of Jimmy interviews but this one stands out

Jimmy Palmiotti and I weave through his career, and take stock of his work ethic, calculated risks, and personal relationships. We talk writing process, and how he approached stories like JONAH HEX, HARLEY QUINN, DAREDEVIL, DEADLY TALES of the GUNSLINGER, AND PUNISHER.

What is a spiritual attack? Good to see some Bible stuff mixed in with the corporate waffle.

Maybe the Zabu one can overlap Ka-Zar’s hand. That looks really odd.

This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

The Japanese Mario 64 official strategy guide is an incredible thing. "Can we make little hand-made dioramas of all the levels?" "Sure, why the hell not."
A model of the first level from Mario 64. A model of a snowy level from Mario 64.

I think, if you look, the colour is allowing Sakai to do less. Similar to Aragonés on Groo I guess. A well earned rest from the intensity of it all while still making great comics. But that IDW issue with a few fill in pages did not sit well with me.

It does that thing of welcoming you in with no need for context but the context is available if you want. The saga books are I think three DH trades each. What he achieves in terms of line weights is astonishing at times and so understated.
billyhynes.bsky.social
Exactly that. I confess I got started when living in Spain and English comics were thinner on the ground. I just got a random DH trade and I was off. Forward and back. Not loving it in colour and larger now, but it’s still great.

I know that getting into a book with seemingly endless history is daunting and can be a turn off. But if you’ve not read Usagi, treat yourself. Pick up one of the Saga books from Dark Horse or something. Imagine having so many brilliant comics just waiting for you. Sakai is a godsend.

I certainly missed a trick not seeing it in the cinema. But it’s like a whole film of these guys but in their pants
