I also recommend downloading a copy of this list of cleaning products effective against norovirus

(It's uh...currently... Available on the EPA website, but who knows how long that will last)

www.epa.gov/pesticide-re...

Note that the concentration of the cleaner is particularly important

every day trans people wake up and suffer the humiliation of having to fight for our human rights under the banner of a flag that looks like we got it at babies-r-us

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

It is your civic duty as a constituent to be critical of Dems, Repubs and any individual or org in positions of power and to hold them accountable.

It is NOT your duty to run their fan club and act as their personal PR crisis firm.
I refuse to be told I’m not allowed to criticize the Democrats.

Please stop believing we don’t owe each other anything. We owe each other so much! We owe each other love, equity, understanding, community, compassion, and much more. Don’t let this toxic hyper individualism cut you off from humanity. We’re all connected. We all need each other.

This is the time for America to listen to the people who have experience with colonization and/or authoritarian regimes. You need us. Before it’s too late.
It occurred to me that many Americans are experiencing for the first time a feeling that Black, brown, and Indigenous people have had since forever. Fear and distrust of this government.

Not a “gotcha” statement; it’s my observation.

I hope you have community to lean into. All of us.

a timely reminder that @bookshop-org.bsky.social recently launched their own Ebooks service! you can read them in your web browser or on your iPhone or Droid device, and every Ebook you buy from them supports an independent bookstore ☺️
FYI, Amazon will no longer enable the downloading of ebooks to exterior devices starting February 26th.

Here’s a tutorial on how to download your ebooks off of Amazon. You can use Calibre (free software) to reformat the kindle books to be used on other devices.

And so I come back to how this is such a common experience with a complex chronic illness

Because as bad as this is, this is the Lite version due to privilege and a little luck

Erythromelalgia may be rare, but having no treatment or medical guidance is not

bsky.app/profile/unto...
I want to emphasize that as bad as this was, my experience was also basically the optimal, most privileged chronic illness experience:

Housed

Family support

Insured, with the ability to self refer to specialists

Community support from disabled friends

Already on disability benefits

I’m seeing a lot of “well give it a generation or two and measles will wipe out these people”

These people are kids. Who have zero choice in being born, or medical decisions.

Seriously y’all? What the fuck? Kids. These are kids. We do not do this shit to kids.

Be fucking better

While standing is cool, what I really look forward to is relief from my dysphagia, specifically nasal regurgitation. Last night, a swallow of spicy panang curry went straight up and out of my nose. I should have expected it, but I never do.

The beauty of treatment that actually works! 3/4 days after infusion, and I can stand up off the floor effortlessly.
February 16, 2025 at 3:36 PM
I say the infusion center is jankity because it is 6 chairs in an unused corner of the hospital, usually staffed by a single nurse who has to leave the premises to get our medications. The center in the next building over is LUX, but I don't get booked there.

Had 1 good infusion day, 1 shit infusion day. I'll take it.

I know it is a whole thing that people threaten to leave the US, but it is a special kind of upsetting knowing my career is geographically specific, that I have no other marketable skills, and that my disabled body is unwelcome anyway.

It is cold as all get out here, but camping is so regulating. So nice to spend time with the one bio family member who actually gets me and is on the same page, covid wise.

My life is actually just a series of stressors punctuated by recitations of the serenity prayer. I'm not even a friend of Bill W, it just slaps

My current schedule is cushy as hell, with hours of on call time where I just meed to be within 10 min of my work site, but my body is still thrashed by the end of the day. Over it.

My gastroparesis has been rearing its ugly head more than normal, but I am struggling to renember to take meds so that I actually experience hunger. It has been a shit show, and I would absolutely love a fuckin break.
