Saying the officer who committed murder is a murderer is dangerous, but it's OK to claim that his victim was a domestic terrorist who literally ran him over.
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

For 27 years I worked as the #2 editor at the Star Tribune editorial pages. We were fierce for truth. The Strib editorial page today is a disgrace. There is no editorial speaking for the newspaper as an institution, no condemnation of Trump and Ice. This is not leadership.

This is the best of the videos, I think.
A witness shared this video with me showing an ICE officer shooting a driver in an SUV in south Minneapolis. DHS says the woman is dead.

Worth noting that Minnesota Public Radio is NOT doing that. They're interviewing people on the ground, chasing down witnesses and facts, and treating ICE statements with the appropriate amount of skepticism.
Sigh. The NPR national news brief at the top of the hour mentioned the shooting and simply cited the DHS statement.
I truly don't think mainstream journalists in the U.S are prepared to cover state violence

The sheer number of videos of the shooting is horrific, but in the vein of what @prisonculture.bsky.social has been saying, it proves how many people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn't just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn't abandon her.

Basic media literacy: there are multiple clips out there showing this shooting, mostly up close and unobstructed (except by the car itself). Trump’s social media post includes a clip from far away, through trees, and slowed to super slow motion.

There is video of the shooting of a woman by ICE in Minneapolis circulating that shows an ICE agent repeatedly shooting her at point blank range while she tries to drive off. There was no obvious threat to any ICE agent.

On Greenland, here’s how insane Trump is: Greenland belongs to Denmark. Both Denmark and the US are founding members of NATO. Article 5 of the NATO Treaty says that an attack on one member is an attack on all. So by treaty, the United States is bound to defend Greenland/Denmark from Trump.

My position on impeachment is the same as it was six months ago: Impeachment is first about driving public attention to Trump’s crimes and corruption.

Democrats should introduce impeachment articles and force votes to boost their parallel media effort.

Performative public investigations matter.
Why push for impeachment?

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

MAGA's supposed "anti-interventionism" is actually pro-pillage and pro-plunder.

The kidnapping of Maduro inaugurates a highly dangerous era of U.S. empire that for perhaps the first time in an era of mass media is not pretending to be anything other than a violent, extractive enterprise of domination.
