I did not get a seat on any of the 6, 4 or 2 trains that I took home from midtown at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for the first time in ages. Usually by then in our post-COVID world, seats open up, but not this week. We're so back.
There were 4,603,859 subway rides on Wednesday, which is a new post-pandemic record. Slowly, we’re approaching 4,697,122 rides from March 11, 2020 which was the last moment 4.6 million people rode the subway before things fell off a cliff

Spending a week and a half in Paris and Madrid really drives home the point that the (American-ish) concept of a "one-seat ride" is overrated, and frequent headways at nearly all hours of the day is the true gold standard.

Stumbled on one of the first Brooklyn installations of @nycsanitation.bsky.social Empire Bins at Brooklyn Tech HS. It’s really happening!

A DSNY Assistant Commissioner saw me taking photos and demanded he give me a personal tour. He’s downright giddy about it. 17 (!) bins will be placed here.

@nyctsubway.bsky.social @mta.info is there any other “world class” subway system that runs 20 minute headways on a Sunday morning and seems ok with it because of existing lower ridership?
