I think we in the Urbanist Community should read or listen to chapter 7 of Dan Wangs Book Breakneck. It talks about the fact that most of great works we benefit from today in NYC essentially stopped after Robert Moses. We need to consider this going forward.

This is great. And making the bike lanes around the park wide and two-way would really help get some transportation cyclists out of the park. It's also just the right thing to do.

I am quoted in this article.

"A cycle track around the park would get a ton of use and it’s going to take pressure off of Central Park," said Chris Sanders. "That would solve like 99 percent of whatever the perceived problem is for Central Park itself."

Want Safety in Central Park? Add Protected Bike Lanes Around and Through It: Advocates - Streetsblog New York City
It's time to ring the park with green paint — and add green veins through it.

AMEN. This is precisely the reason I said "perceived problems".

Flexposts are good to quickly mark a bike lane & have the advantage of being adjustable if the initial alignment doesn't work but should be replaced by something more solid after the lane is judged effective. Most flexposts in Boston have been in place for way too long. www.wbur.org/news/2025/10...
Why Boston is moving away from flexposts to a new type of bike lane barrier
Boston has begun swapping out the thin, flexible bollards with "cast-in-place concrete" bike lane barriers that sit on top of the road.

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social if you havent met him already, I really think you should chat with Dan Wang. He wrote this

“…Americans do have to choose between poorly governed cities or car dependent suburbs”

while lamenting the lack of community in the car dependent suburbs in his book ‘Breakneck’.

OMG I think I met you at a gays for transit meeting in SF awhile back.

I know its hard to believe. But I think we can do better than an awkward slip lane and that little piece of bike lane thats not connected to anything aboce 26th Street. Whats keeping this from being a 2way bike lane that links to 25th and broadway?

@nyc-dot.bsky.social whats going in with 6th avenue? How does this happen where the parking prtected bike lane has no stipes delineating the parking at all.

She should just show us and dont tell us.

They could literally just put bollards at the edge of the sidewalk if they wanted to keep cars out.

Massive thank you to the Santander Cycles team for helping keep London moving this morning during the RMT tube strikes.

Our Cycleway network is really busy so if you’re out & about, cycle safely keep an eye out for others.

@mta.info @transalt.org I think you all should run some “They shouldve just taken the train ads.” Showing frustrated people driving cars or getting into crashes when they couldve just taken the train.

Zohran Mamdani’s NYC History Scavenger Hunt was incredible. I did the whole thing with an amazing team of guys I met in line at the start of the scavenger hunt.

I used my Gazelle e-bike.👏🏾

INCREDIBLE!!!

Here is the picture I took with one of the guys from our group.
