The conclusions in this thread (which you should read all of) about the role that Cultural Christianity has to play in the perspectives of so many Westerners toward Jews and why theories like this are so popular on the left nowadays, are completely accurate and something I’ve struggled to describe.
delafina777.bsky.social
I’ve got a theory as to why the online left seems increasingly into the Khazar myth, which used to be the fringiest of far-right antisemitism (at least among white people—it was also popular among NOI/BHI, but I’m not touching that one).

feels like it should be a big deal that the president is directing the invasion of american cities based on what are almost certainly AI videos shown to him by his staff

maybe one of our ostensible news organizations could track down exactly what it is that he's seeing

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

I don’t understand how people can be surprised or upset when we speak about left-wing antisemtism, unless what they are actually upset about is being forced to look into a mirror.

These people have no motivation whatsoever other than their genocidal desire to exterminate Jews.

This is a person who is still taken seriously and published in left-wing spaces.

To be clear: No, most Israeli Jews are not descended from Polish Jews. And even for the minority who are, it would obviously not be safe for them all to go there now, given the Polish government.
Tweet from Axel Folio, PhD: "To Poland where they are from"

Exactly. It doesn’t bother me when people share Paywalled articles. It bothers me when the publications themselves share them through their social media accounts, which is why I’ve muted the NYTimes and others.

That’s not trying to spread information: it’s advertising and should be marked as such.

It was a rhetorical question, but yeah, I know.

Or even if there was just an option to “Buy today’s paper” without having to subscribe to it forever. Back in the day (like 15 years ago lol) you could get the paper delivered to your house daily, or you could pick one up at the bodega on your way to work or whatever.

worth pointing out: one of the many reasons Bibi didn't give a shit about the hostages is because they were all from Shaar haNegev, a region that, before the attack, was full of peaceniks and leftists who wanted to live in peace and equity with the Gazans and consequently did not vote for him.
alonlevy.bsky.social
Chaim Peri told another Nir Oz hostage, who was released in the first ceasefire, that a general hostage deal would take two years, because "it's Bibi and we're leftists." He was subsequently murdered last year and never saw his prediction come true to within days.

it's the J. D. Vance effect. "Why don't the Jews ever say thank you for the dhimmi status we granted them? A little gratitude goes a long way! *sticks dick in couch*"
luxalptraum.com
This is the thing that always gets me about the fetishization of pre-1948 MENA Jews; it’s always assumed that it is somehow normal and natural for a society to be Muslim-dominant and that Jews should simply be grateful that framework oppressed us less than the Christian-dominant one did
bluelion70.bsky.social
This. They think of us as characters in the Bible who disappeared a long time ago or never even existed, or as personifications of aspects of human behavior.

They have a hard time understanding that we are actual people who still exist in the world, with a continuous cultural tradition and history.

any tax benefits provided to parents are in fact morally wrong

those tax benefits should accrue to children, and children should be able to legally recover them from parents if they weren't spent in their interests
bluelion70.bsky.social
True, that certainly plays a role too.

But the claim that Jews lived in the MENA in safety and security under Muslim rule because they didn’t get pogrom’d by the majority population (they did, frequently) is a fantasy made by people who believe that a Jew’s true place is under someone else’s boot.

What’s most striking about this statement is try comparing it to what Cuomo would have said while he was actually Governor.

He might not have actually DONE anything, but I remember when his rhetoric toward Trump was as fierce as anyone’s. What a fascinating shift.
bluelion70.bsky.social
There’s a reason that Mizrahi Jews make up the primary support base for Likud in Israel: the reason is the treatment their families and ancestors received while living as second-class citizens under Muslim rule throughout the MENA.

Oppressing Jews slightly less than Christianity does isn’t a flex.

Financial literacy is a tangential skill that students absolutely would pick up in high school if they actually paid attention in their other classes.

The ability to do research and close-reading, critical analysis, and arithmetic contribute toward things like understanding bank & CC statements.

Rule of thumb:
anyone who likes, or even tolerates, any of
- BadEmpanada
- Eyup Lovely
- Jimmy Dore
- Johnny Graz (jvgraz)
- 'Rathbone'
- George Galloway

is empirically a Bad Person, do not waste your time.

If you found this remotely offensive, *you* are a bad person, do not waste my time.

Imagine being such an unhinged Nazi that you can uncritically make claims that are tantamount to openly admitting that you’re genuinely illiterate.

Why is every “Pro”-Palestinian like this, where their entire movement and ideology is predicated on a brain-dead attempt to erase Jewish history?
marilynjs.bsky.social
It is an established fact that not a single Jewish history text had been written between the 1st century and early 19th century. The fact that Judaism is based on a religious historical myth may have something to do with it.
bluelion70.bsky.social
So if someone murdered 2 of your children and kidnapped 2 others, and then said “hey, if I give back the two I kidnapped you’ll leave me alone and not retaliate in any way, right? No harm, no foul?”

Your response would be “sure, thank you!” and then you’d let them walk free?
bluelion70.bsky.social
Because Hezbollah disarming was their side of the fucking deal, genius.

If Hezbollah has not disarmed, they haven’t followed through on their end, meaning that Israel is under no obligation to respect the terms. That’s how peace agreements work. Both sides have to uphold the agreement.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.

Lmao, they didn’t bring any aid on that joke of a PR tour. They openly admitted that they were bringing a “symbolic amount” of aid, because their entire purpose was to get social media attention for themsleves, not to actually help a single person in Gaza

Netanyahu wanted Trump to win because they're both members of the international right-wing coalition.

This ceasefire, while welcome, is basically just a shittier version of the Biden plan.
someforeignfield.bsky.social
It's clear that when the US wants a ceasefire deal, one miraculously occurs. Makes the "working tirelessly for a ceasefire" stuff from last year even more disgusting.
