I’ve got a theory as to why the online left seems increasingly into the Khazar myth, which used to be the fringiest of far-right antisemitism (at least among white people—it was also popular among NOI/BHI, but I’m not touching that one).

Exactly. It doesn’t bother me when people share Paywalled articles. It bothers me when the publications themselves share them through their social media accounts, which is why I’ve muted the NYTimes and others.

That’s not trying to spread information: it’s advertising and should be marked as such.

This. They think of us as characters in the Bible who disappeared a long time ago or never even existed, or as personifications of aspects of human behavior.

They have a hard time understanding that we are actual people who still exist in the world, with a continuous cultural tradition and history.

True, that certainly plays a role too.

But the claim that Jews lived in the MENA in safety and security under Muslim rule because they didn’t get pogrom’d by the majority population (they did, frequently) is a fantasy made by people who believe that a Jew’s true place is under someone else’s boot.

There’s a reason that Mizrahi Jews make up the primary support base for Likud in Israel: the reason is the treatment their families and ancestors received while living as second-class citizens under Muslim rule throughout the MENA.

Financial literacy is a tangential skill that students absolutely would pick up in high school if they actually paid attention in their other classes.

The ability to do research and close-reading, critical analysis, and arithmetic contribute toward things like understanding bank & CC statements.

It is an established fact that not a single Jewish history text had been written between the 1st century and early 19th century. The fact that Judaism is based on a religious historical myth may have something to do with it.

If Hezbollah has not disarmed, they haven’t followed through on their end, meaning that Israel is under no obligation to respect the terms. That’s how peace agreements work. Both sides have to uphold the agreement.
