Needed a white elephant gift and have decided Marvel really needs to put out an omnibus of their holiday specials over the years (incl. the one featuring a Kitty Pryde Hanukkah story by me and Pat Olliffe).

I wonder if there's some place near me where I can get some of my blank books foil-pressed at a reasonable cost?

This is why you always have a dictaphone or pad and pen on your bedside table.

Now we just need to remember to take a board and a permanent marker pen in the shower, because those *bastard* “best ideas” have absolutely no consideration for time or place. 😉

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

I think there's also a wish fulfillment element in a lot of x-mas-compatable movies. LOTR has a big adventure, Harry Potter gets whisked into a new exciting magic world with friends (SW too), or there's some kind of appeal to a grander idea. #scriptchat #scriptsky

Reskeeting with the #scriptchat #scriptsky tags so we can all see
This is a fascinating phenomenon. I think it has something to do with when it originally came out (LOTR were all released in December). But also the kinds of movies that you can put on when the whole family is gathered together maybe?

So now I'm wondering, what makes a movie not about the holidays feel like a Christmas movie? Why does LOTR feel like an x-mas movie? #scriptchat #scriptsky

In one of my old comics, a kid on the bad list is tasked with revitalizing a waning Santa's image to make him "cool"and everything goes downhill. Kept thinking I might do some re-sketching of those pages #scriptchat #scriptsky

William Gibson up at 3am the night before a meeting to pitch a book he forgot he was supposed to write:
what if we integrated gambling into the news and ads into therapy. what if your phone was also your girlfriend. what if you were the messiah and you could only save humanity by communicating with a chatbot and rigging betting markets which are part of the news. what if we summoned a god in VR chat

This reminds me of my headcanon that the hippie played by Charles Napier in The Way To Eden is the descendant of the military guy played by Charles Napier in Little Green Men.

something you need to understand about Internet of Things devices is that with rare exceptions they use bottom of the barrel security practices and are lying to you about them

I'm kind of glad I'm out of cardstock to make new blank books out of because it's impossible to eyeball page numbers. One of these only has ten sheets in it, the other has like a thousand.

Speaking from experience (I work in procurement), someone needed a Specific Thingy. They asked ChatGPT, which spat out the wrong part number. I had to spend 30 minutes convincing them it WAS the wrong part number and 5 minutes calling the human vendor who knew exactly what we needed.

Hollywood isn’t out of “new ideas” it just doesn’t give “new voices” the same opportunities as establishment ones.

This is especially 100x true for POC writers and creators.

Tweeting with @merrillbarr.com about Magnum last night reminded me of my favorite piece of MAGNUM, PI trivia. After the show’d been cancelled, QUANTUM LEAP had plans for Sam to leap into Thomas Magnum. It never happened, but here’s test footage of Scott Bakula doing Selleck’s “eyebrow wiggle.”
