Officially Denver's warmest Christmas Eve on record.

High of 71° today...and we'll probably have our warmest Christmas on record tomorrow as well.

Woot.

Putting the snow tires on yesterday was aspirational (and because of appt availability).

C’mon Denver Snow
Denver has at least tied its warmest Christmas Eve on record, and a decent chance we just broke the record.

70° so far today...nearly 30° above average.

just a reminder it snowed in denver colorado once upon a time
The Blizzard of '82 started 43 years ago tonight, Denver's 5th-biggest snowstorm on record (23.8"), with 30-40" totals west.

It took 33 hours for Stapleton Airport to re-open, and the storm contributed to then-Mayor Bill McNichols getting voted out a few months later.

Thinking back to how (nonsmoking) family members first resisted our city’s vote to remove smoking from bars because “personal freedoms” and I’m glad the ban happened anyway.

Restaurants, clubs, bars all became a better experience
this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

Now up to three separate spots with 100+ gusts in/near Boulder, two within the past hour.

Again: It's considerably drier than Wednesday, and the wind started earlier (longer lasting wind event). Hence the extra concern today compared to Wednesday.
