"Sprachuhr" (Talking Clock) is a fun little Commodore PET program displaying an analog and digital clock (in BASIC) and announcing the time at full minutes (in ML).

Originally program by Heinz-E. Obermann for the 8000 series (1981), port for 40-col PETs by me (2025).

The code of Super Mario World contains an unused translucent level mode, which causes the environment to appear ethereal and was as such possibly intended for ghost house levels. Below is footage of some ghost houses with the mode enabled.

Spectrum Next #Delphian progress: added a linked polygon system so that I can link surface detail to a polygon. Also added support for 5-sided polygons. Rearranged some memory too, so models are now in their own bank. Oh, and added some quick lasers too! Next step might be to make ships move...

What are some good tools for doing 1990s pixel art? Specifically sprites, but maybe some larger backgrounds. I see someone's done a JS version of DeluxePaint! Any others people really like?

Slightly heretically, I'd love one that handled alpha channels well.

Amstrad CPC game update.

Think I'll see how 6x8 sized tiles will work out, it gives me extra screen width to work with in mode 0. Also has a nice square-r aspect ratio. This is one simple character, if I can get the other prominent characters to fit nicely in this smaller size then we're good.

So it is possible to do 60fps 3d on the sega megadrive by using a very exotic indexing method to simulate 2 colors + alternating lines + fast DMA. Totally interlaced my brain 🙃
