Say it with me: They weren't "Residential Schools".

They were FORCED LABOUR DEATH CAMPS that incarcerated Indigenous children as inmates.

#Genocide admitted by the chief Indian Agent of #Canada in 1914.

Read it and weep for the children, our cherished relatives.

It cannot be gainsaid that in the early days of school administration in the territories, while the problem was still a new one, the system was open to criticism. Insufficient care was exercised in the admission of children to the schools. The well-known predisposition of Indians to tuberculosis resulted in a very large percentage of deaths among the pupils. They were housed in buildings not carefully designed for school purposes, and these buildings became infected and dangerous to the inmates. It is quite within the mark to say that fifty percent cent of the children who passed through the schools did not live to benefit from the education which they had received therein.

Also keeping in mind, Canadian politicians get led around by the Indian Act bureaucracy and its dependent, resource extraction satellite departments.

It's so awkward to teach kids about respectful terminology and then have to clarify that the law still says "Indian", and like... It should be awkward. That law is an active shame on Canada. But no politician seems to have the will to do the work and make a nation-to-nation restorative framework.

The Indian Act is entirely offensive.

It is part of Canada's Constitutional Apartheid.

Parliament can never remove "outdated, offensive language in the Indian Act" without complete repeal and land back sovereignty.

Canadian health care is not tied to employment, but we don't engage in general strikes.

Non-union workers feel that way because American society idealizes capitalism.

A general strike is a boycott of government. It's a refusal to engage in the rule of law of a tyrannical administration.

Americans are brainwashed to believe the capital class are too exceptional to face a general strike.

No significant "liberal" among the capital class has the spine to tolerate or encourage workers to strike for the greater good.

So Americans can't reach critical mass for a general strike.
