Not that Congress is up to the job at the moment, but one solution to our Supreme Court problem is impeachment. Between Trump v. United States and today’s decision, none of the six Republican appointees should remain on the bench.

We should not forget that this remedy exists. It is a goal.

On this day of nationwide #NoKings protests against Trump, a reminder that Senate Republicans put language in the fast-moving GOP tax bill to make it too expensive for anyone to sue the Trump admin for lawlessness.

They are trying to let him rule as a king. www.huffpost.com/entry/senate...
Senate GOP Strips Contempt Provision From Tax Bill — But Still Lets Trump Be King
They took language out of the House GOP's "big, beautiful bill" that limited courts' powers, but now want to price people out of being able to sue the government at all.

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

The Minnesota assassinations, the attempted arson at Governor Shapiro's home, and the violent arrest of Senator Padilla are all straight out of the Jim Crow terrorism playbook. Same goes with cops aiming for journalists covering the ICE protests.

None of these are new tactics, just a new iteration.

The Philly No Kings protest has already grown so big that it has spilled into the street. A variety of groups, organizations and causes represented among the crowd.

This woman is now leading a chant.

Can report a strong turnout at our local No Kings rally. Lots of American flag waving and supportive horn honking. Many homemade signs, some indignant, some witty. One that seemed particularly McLean appropriate: “If only Kamala had won, we’d all be at brunch.”

I can not disagree with this take more.

The military parade will be a parade of force and intimidation by wanna-be authoritarians.

It fits right alongside the outsized military display in CA right now—making the same point.
“In today’s climate, a military parade could offer an opportunity to counter misperceptions about the armed forces. It could bring Americans closer to service members and juice military recruitment—all of which is sorely needed,” @kschake.bsky.social writes:
Sometimes a Parade Is Just a Parade
Not everything the Trump administration does is a threat to democracy.

He will steal, sir, an egg out of a cloister. For rapes and ravishments he parallels Nessus. He professes not keeping of oaths; in breaking ’em he is stronger than Hercules. He will lie, sir, with such volubility, that you would think truth were a fool.

the frenzy over the hunter biden pardon is a good reminder that the press knows how to make something a scandal and has decided that nothing trump does is truly deserving of that treatment

THIS
Endorsements don't matter. A Harris endorsement by the WP would surprise or persuade virtually no one. But people failing to stand up to Trump due to fear of backlash or worse, especially if he wins and tries to punish his enemies, is corrosive. Resistance to authoritarianism is a coordination game.
The irony is that the Post's capitulation/failure to endorse makes much more of a statement and has a far more profound impact on this country than any endorsement ever could.

An 85 page Government Accountability Office report shows that Black girls face more discipline and more severe punishments in public schools for the same behavior than girls from other racial backgrounds.

Dem. congressional members including Mass. Rep. Ayanna Pressley requested the study.
