Given the immense vastness of all the music ever created by humanity, it’s such a weird coincidence that the very best songs all happened to be released when I was aged 14-21.

Butker should step aside. Make his wife a sandwich. He should realize his life really started when he became a husband and a father. He should give up his day job. He should realize he’s been told diabolical lies — his place is in the home.

new @fangraphs.com: Russell Martin's elite pitch-framing puts him on par not only with the more heralded catchers of the era, but among the most valuable players (some actual MVP winners) for the 2006-16 span. The public didn't appreciate him the way the industry did, but he's Hallworthy.

We talk so, so much about how Seattle's park hurts their batters, but it works both ways ..

Luis Castillo, 2024
HOME 3.15 ERA, .656 OPS, 5.9 K/BB
ROAD 4.25 ERA, .764 OPS, 2.3 K/BB

He's good! But I've started trying to think of Seattle as a bizarro Coors, too.

Up on @fangraphs.com, I wrote some letter, words, and sentences about the Juan Soto deal. @benclemens.bsky.social will have more soon.

Soto gets $51 million a year for 15 years from the Mets, and takes it. Rumors are true: Steve Cohen would not be outbid for Soto.

All of the hitters. One episode. Bananas.
🎙️ Rates & Barrels ⚾️

@enosarris.bsky.social & I discussed a few hitter takeaways from the 2024 season. Thin positions, strategy tweaks for 2025, and Juan Soto somehow underperforming his xSLG last season....

I just got here, so I don’t think I’ve had time to make anyone swoon yet. But I’m a prize catch—I just pulled a muscle in my back getting up from my desk, and I’m not even 40 for a few more weeks. That’s the equivalent of having been ahead of your age level in reading as a kid, right?
