i saw someone propose an interesting theory as to why they're doing this in specifically Minneapolis: it's a progressive city that's still small enough for them to do this type of heavy-handed occupation

I have thought about this a lot - my dad was career military and he always told me that the military was the last bastion of democracy in the case of a runaway administration, because their oath is to the Constitution and the people, not to the President. If they resign, puppets will replace them.
