Oh Sen Dems are not in disarray - they are in array - in their collective cowardice.

The only person who is very open about wanting to be leader is Brian Schatz. And Brian Schatz is awful.

Here is an exchange I had with him on January 6th where he flagrantly and knowingly violated his oath by helping install Trump as president despite a Supreme Court ruling about this.
Schatz: I'm not saying this is strategically or tactically wise - it might not be. But I'm proud to be a Democrat, which means that we can take a huge L and concede, because that's how America works. Now the work begins to start to assert what power we have and take back what we can in the midterms. Me: Dude. He tried to murder you and your colleagues in order to violently overthrow the government. Brian Schatz: Hey, if you want to advocate for us to not certify the election just say so. That's not my position. This was a free and fair election. Me: I already have advocated for that? Of course you shouldn't. The dude is an insurrectionist that threatened to have his supporters take up arms if he lost. In what way is that free and fair? He used violence repeatedly to intimidate everyone into submission. Works pretty good apparently.

This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.

And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?

Because the provision is retroactive to 2022, it would appear to make eligible the eight lawmakers whose phone records were subpoenaed by investigators for Mr. Smith as he examined efforts by Donald J. Trump to obstruct the results of the 2020 presidential election. Each violation would be worth at least $500,000 in any legal claim, according to the bill language. The bill would also sharply limit the way the government could resist such a claim, taking away any government claims of qualified or sovereign immunity to fight a lawsuit over the issue. The Republican senators whose phone records were subpoenaed as part of the investigation were: Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming. Representative Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania also had his phone records subpoenaed but would not be eligible because he is a member of the House.
