Well a bit of scrumping is one thing, but corporate theft stripping orchards is another altogether!

Average UK household debt in 2010 was £57,747. This rose to £65,665 in 2024. The economy is broken. It is sustained by debt, and this won't last. We need a wealth tax and an economy designed to end poverty, rather than allow a minority to hoard wealth @zackpolanski.bsky.social

The UK household debt is over £2 trillion.

Debt once public now loaded to households e.g. student debt. Energy debt rising. People borrowing for healthcare.

Mortgages 7 times salary being issued. Soaring rents.

Real average wage stuck at the 2008 level.

What could go wrong?

There's doubling down then there's Jenrick doing racism
bestforbritain.org
Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA
brumgreenjoe.bsky.social
While the Tories and Reform are in a competition for who can make the most outlandishly racist statements and Labour follow their attack lines meekly, at least there’s one rapidly growing party here to take them on and offer hope 💚
brumgreenjoe.bsky.social
Have you seen what Jenrick said @zackpolanski.bsky.social? We have brilliant local campaigners who could show you round Handsworth if you fancy.
corinnefowler.bsky.social
#Handsworth could teach @RobertJenrick how to live in a global society. #BenjaminZephaniah - spirit of #Birmingham - said "Handsworth for me is...where I learnt all my skills, my communication skills, my hustling skills, my poetic skills, everything."

Robert Jenrick complained of ‘not seeing another white face’ in part of Birmingham

I got quite emotional watching this on Saturday. I can only imagine how it felt in the room!

There will be a day when we sit our grandchildren on our knees and we tell them...

It's been a weekend of inspiring speeches at The Green Party conference, but I'm glad I watched this at the end of this weekend - a wonderful woman who dedicated her life to making a positive difference. Someone we can all learn from.

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.
brumgreenjoe.bsky.social
Greta Thunberg please. I would love to hear you interview her once the Israeli government release her after the unlawful detention in international waters. I'd also like a myth-busting interview with someone from Brighton Greens about what really happened when they were in charge of the council.

We can all agree that the attack on the Synagogue in Manchester was terrorism

So why is setting a Mosque alight just 'arson' and a 'hate crime' and also not terrorism?

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Powerful images. So many Jewish people across the world (including inside Israel) are disgusted by what the Israeli government and the IDF are doing. Calling criticism of a right wing, zionist government anti-semitic is itself and act of anti-semitism.

This is grim & dangerous over reach.

This is a government that have lost the moral argument & are still selling arms to Israel. Now further cracking down on dissent.

Absolutely the opposite of what they should be doing - so of course this is what the Labour Government choose.

NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.

Saving lives, saving you money, improving the flow of traffic, there’s no downside to switching to 20mph default limit.
20splenty.bsky.social
It would be great if we could take a whole country and change the default speed limit to 20mph and then compare it to one left at 30mph. What if it reduced casualties by 25% and with lower risk reduced insurance premiums by £45 a year? Well it did! bit.ly/4gIBPlJ

I still don’t understand why Boris Johnson isn’t in prison meanwhile a national newspaper still thinks it appropriate to employ him to apply posh boy humour against people rightfully protesting genocide . The moral depravity of the man & our media on full display.

“Dishcloths”?

Boris Johnson was always an arrant racist.

Labour spokesperson on Zack Polanski’s speech at Green conference:

“It is no surprise that Zack Polanski, a man who said he wanted to learn from Farage, has done so in his speech today: using his platform to sow division & grievance."

Not sure what they mean here - division against the ultra-rich?

I am proud that my party stands on this platform. The Greens are bringing hope for a better politics, not hatred and division. Inequality is the biggest problem we face and a fairer country is possible. The old parties funded by vested interests are not working for you. We could change that:

Shame I won't see you there this year. Too many things to be doing in Brum. Hopefully next year after we've got the elections out of the way!

Absolutely devastated for our Jewish community in Crumpsall, and for all of our Jewish communities across Greater Manchester and beyond. My thoughts very much with those killed and injured, and the emergency services who responded.

Our city region will always stand together.
