YOU AND I #5: SACROSANCT #flashfiction

Incense and hot throw lead the charge upon me, the toll of the bell in quick pursuit. God demanded the breadth of my senses. I had a headache.

followed this guide to remove the constant mentions of elon musk from my discover feed. i don't like him either, i just don't care to give him more space in my brain than he's already bought

Not only does adding alt text to your artwork make it more accessible to audiences, but it does also make you more searchable! Bsky uses keywords in alt text in its search bases as well. So not only will you show up more, but more people will also be able to enjoy your work, b/c of alt text! Yay!
Artists, I love and support you, but if you want more reposts and sharing of your art, please try adding some descriptive alt text 💜💜💜

end neoliberalism's tyranny over our narratives

i'm tired of stories where a supposedly good ending is "status quo restored"
If you want to write heroes in the year 2025, you have to decide what they stand for, and then stand for it. The mealy-mouthed, offend-no-one approach no longer works. People respond to the Walter Whites bc you can put truth in their mouths. So put truth in the mouths of the good guys.

First: if it's "easier" to write relatable villains than relatable 'good guys,' that means something and should be considered as an independent question. *Why* have villains become so popular in recent decades? Because they reflect people's lived experiences within a broken system.

i watched #companion last night and while i thought its visual execution (shots, acting) was masterful,

the script seriously falls off in the latter half. why don't films trust their audience anymore? it's a shorter feature for 2025 and it still assumes i forgot its very blatant setups.

i spent ages trying to figure out how i wanted to set up my writing tools, only to remember that:

- none of these digital platforms for writing existed when most literature was written
- most people write in microsoft word anyway
- i'm trying to throw money at my book like that will write it for me

my goals for writing feel antithetical to microblogging

i want to be more decisive about what i put out into the world, and that's better suited for blogging platforms like medium and substack

i will always roll my eyes at filipinos who put their elbows into lambasting diaspora for using the term "filipinx" — usually non-binary diaspora — while never lifting a finger to criticise the constant, prominent, LOCAL use of the terms 'filipina', 'cebuana', etc.
February 12, 2025 at 2:32 PM
filipinos born and raised in the homeland regularly gatekeep diaspora from having any claim to filipino culture

filipinos live on an archipelago united only by a foreign, colonial will

we have to accept at some point that our identity IS synonymous with physical displacement and regional nuance

my most intrusive worry about being poly in a mononormative society: "everyone else will have someone that is more important to them than me." it compulses me to play into hierarchy out of insecurity. i start to feel like i'll sink if i'm not someone else's VIP. (1/2)

this week in reading:

i recently finished sally rooney's CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS — if you like literary novels i recommend it. it's an interesting examination of romantic relationships, how we label them, and the power dynamics inherent to them.
