I like my ghosts like my coffee: derived from the souls of inanimate objects. A house that haunts before the plaster is dried, a spooky doll that just left the factory, a combo TV/DVD freshly plugged in. From whence the spectres? Who knows, but they're in all the banal crevices

I like the idea of a haunting that just starts. It's what makes Poltergeist so effective. It's not a family moving into a dream home. It's a cluttered, lived-in suburban house that suddenly has ghosts.
