Playwright // Mental Health Clinician // Dad // Brooklyn // on B’way the goose’s name was Peggy and she had two understudies named Esther and Gertie
Literally just this morning I heard someone compare Marty Supreme to The Last Dance.
The Last Dance is one of the decade’s most influential piece of culture.
LaKeith Stanfield will star as Dennis Rodman in '48 Hours in Vegas' 🏀

• He’s replacing Jonathan Majors in the role

• Story follows Rodman’s wild Vegas trip in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals

• Phil Lord and Chris Miller will produce

The new Metroid subtitle is ~Beyond~. What is happening??! Is this like how every company logo is boring now??
Watching the Game Awards, and by far my least favorite naming convention is when a sequel adds a subtitle like Requiem, Legacy, Catalyst, etc. Have more fun!

this places rules and if you're too afraid to visit that's between you and your tiny baby brain
New York City went 12 days without a murder in November / December. That's tied for the longest stretch in history, according to the NYPD. As someone who was here when there were 6+ murders per day in this town, it continues to amaze me how safe the place is.

Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.

some significant part of this is just catch-all fear for “this is not the child I ordered” I think
Oh, here's a big surprise. The transphobes don't believe in ADHD either.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

Frankly furious that Ghostlight has been out for a year and I only heard about it this week. (Thank you @screendrafts.bsky.social). Oh, my midwestern heart. Cannot overstate the value of a movie that takes place in a town with people that look like people in that town.

If we’re talking about what is and isn’t performative, I may be performatively highlighting sentences in this parenting book right now.

Helen joining the Times is honestly the best possible outcome.
There's none finer than @helenshaw.bsky.social. The Times's enormous gain is The New Yorker's enormous loss. Also, everyone who jumped to the conclusion that NYT was replacing critics with TikTok influencers and Thus Dies Criticism should perhaps have taken a beat. www.nytco.com/press/helen-...

Four phantoms, one Christine. The implications!
The hair! The jackets! The jokes! They filmed in Oshkosh!
Every time The Four Phantoms is on PBS, I turn it on as a bit and then end up finishing it very much not as a bit.

This is a huge part of why so many people think we're in the middle of a widespread "anti-woke backlash": Small movements opposed to social progress are collected into trend stories by conservative media. Far larger movements that want more diversity are ignored or cast as threats.
"Woke is ruining D&D". Meanwhile Dimension 20, one of the wokest real play shows around, just sold out Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl for live shows and brings armies of new players to RPGs.

As everything in life grows more frictionless, Stoppard is lovely reminder that there can be joy in friction.
Also, I want to be honest: I'm sure there are people who saw Arcadia, The Coast of Utopia, The Invention of Love, and Travesties and never once thought, uh-oh, I should've read up beforehand. I am not one of them. Sometimes, what I didn't know frustrated me. But there is joy in racing to keep up. >
