The one thing that is growing extremely fast is the wealth of the top billionaires:

The top 0.00001% used to own the equivalent of 3% of national income in wealth in 2010

Now they own the equivalent of 12% of national income!

All the noise that self-styled energy wonks made about how the US should surge LNG exports to Europe did not age well.

Europeans should phase fossil fuels out of their power grids and electrify heating, transport, etc. We all should. It's long past time, and not just because of Trump.
Fears grow over Europe’s soaring dependence on US gas imports

American LNG was meant to be a safe alternative to Russian gas. That’s no longer a given, with transatlantic relations in crisis

In Copenhagen, demonstrators chanted "Greenland is not for sale" and wore red baseball caps saying "Make America Go Away" as they marched to the U.S. embassy.

In Greenland 20,000 (a little under half the island's population) led by Prime Minister, carried flags and marched to the U.S. consulate.

In all our time in An Taisce, this is one of the biggest threats to environmental protection that we have ever faced. These proposed changes are clearly unlawful, undemocratic & unfair.

A reminder that 90% of Ireland's so-called 'forests' are industrial plantations, virtually empty of nature.

It doesn't have to be like this: with a bit of thought, we could satisfy our timber needs AND have huge tracts of natural forest ecosystems, bursting with life.

Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

Just imagine how it would be if we actually protected and restored our nature, instead of killing it off everywhere, on land and at sea?

This, in a nutshell, is where we’re at. All the lies, the distraction, NGO-blaming and drive towards even further deregulation is to cover the naked fact that, in Ireland, big polluters pull the strings and our politicians just nod along.

A patch of wild native rainforest in Glenbeg, Beara, looks okay from across the lake. But it's dying because of sheep, with zero ground flora or regenerating trees.

The farmer should be offered double his farm payments to take the sheep out, but chances are he'd actually get nothing.

It's insane.
