A truly disappointing aspect of the fallout over the Jamie Foxx "They killed Jesus" comment was how many people seem to think antisemitism didn't really exist until the Nazis invented it, so anything older than that couldn't have originated in antisemitism (regardless of how it evolved).

This is a really good point, and certainly speaks to a failure on my part, though some of that is due to ignorance. I don't have any personal connections to Israel, and the Jews I've known who do tend to fall much more to the right on this issue.

A couple of nights ago a helicopter crashed onto a freeway in Sacramento and managed to hit a patch without cars. The cars all stopped in time. Folks jumped out and found out that all three of the passengers were alive. The helicopter was on one so they lifted it off.
