Feels like there is a particularly relevant irony in how many ignorant morons over on the other site are… wait for it… ECHOING… the not-so-accurate notion that THIS platform is an echo chamber.

Trump’s desire to save face and Bibi’s desire to stay out of jail were all the reasons behind tonight’s strikes.

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

I don't care what side of the Israel-Palestine conflict your sympathies lie on, snatching up people with a valid student visa for the crime of writing an OpEd is naked fascism and if you don't oppose this you are a threat to this country's most basic values
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

The fact that Elon Musk doesn't realize that Free Agency Day is a much bigger deal on Twitter for NFL fans (and the league in general) than the Superbowl is proof positive that there's no reason for the league (or fans) to use it as their default social media platform when it comes to breaking news

This whole Kendrick GNX drop & his idiot rival continuing the “shoot myself in the foot” stuff has shown me I feel way more at home on Threads than Bluesky.

This platform feels like it lacks the culture; like we’re in the academy over here while all the fun is still going down on Twitter & Threads.

Still has a way to go before it can come close to pre-Musk-Twitter, but the gap between current X & Bluesky is closing pretty rapidly.

I don’t think it’s truly quite equal yet, but Bluesky comes with way less BS & muck to wade thru in the process, which definitely helps.
With all the new journalists and media outlets that have joined Bluesky in recent weeks, my timeline is starting to become a useful news monitor for the first time since Musk took over X.

And for that, I’m extremely grateful. Welcome!

There's plenty of selling points if you're trying to get people over here from Twitter, but i think the simplest might be that this place could keep getting better for the foreseeable future, while the other spot is getting undeniably worse

That said, this app so badly needs to get the functionality for both Drafts and Bookmarks before we really start cooking over here.

Has @bsky.app posted about their roadmap or updates on upcoming features somewhere? All I’ve seen is updates on the influx of new users.
Seems like momentum has clearly continued here over the weekend, but we’re not all the way to “X is dead” territory. Still had to split platforms for the boxing “event” & football coverage, but there’s been undeniable progress…

About last night… the spectacle of old Tyson walking to the ring & being hobbled on bad legs was sad to watch. He was still clearly the better fighter, but a 30yr age gap is insurmountable.

The Paul brothers are pathetic & perfectly represent the blight on our culture of the “influencer” economy.

Like so many others, I've relocated here bit by bit, but fully completing the transition will require @readwise.bsky.social to start taking this platform seriously.

I'm starting to worry the founders are both swallowed up in that certain tech crowd staying loyal to Musk, unfortunately.

Been here a minute, but I became so accustomed to lurking at the other place, not contributing, I only just realized I hadn’t sent out a first post here…

Now that the influx to Bluesky is breaking containment, I don’t want to look like a ghost account!

So consider the ice broken.
